Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi in the National Herald case. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, his sister and party leader, accompanied him. Hundreds of workers and party leaders demonstrated outside the Enforcement Directorate office before Rahul reached the office. The Delhi Police detained Congress workers earlier in the day as they marched outside the AICC headquarters in support of Rahul Gandhi.
Almost the entire top leadership of the Congress, its two Chief Ministers, Ashok Gehlot and Bhupesh Baghel and its parliamentarians from both Houses of Parliament, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha took part in the protest from AICC Headquarters to the headquarters of the Enforcement Directorate. The Delhi Police have tightened security in the national capital as a precaution.
A Union Minister and BJP leader, Smriti Irani, said, Congress leaders have publicly intimidated an Indian investigating agency because their corruption has been exposed. Ms Irani explained that the move was intended to protect the family’s assets at a press conference in New Delhi. To a question about the ED probe against Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case, she said the spokesperson of the agency could shed more light on it.
