Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India and Supreme Commander of the armed forces, reviewed the Indian Navy's fleet at Vishakhapatnam. A Fleet Review was hosted jointly by the Indian Navy and the Eastern Naval Command. A 21-gun salute started off the 12th Presidential Fleet Review. This review is being conducted for the third time on the Coast of Vishakapatnam. The President reviewed the fleet from the Presidential Yacht, INS Sumitra.
In March 2015, INS Sumitra carried out Operation Rahat, a non-combatant evacuation mission in war-torn Yemen. Among the sixty ships reviewed by the President were INS Tarangini, INS Jyoti, and INS Sudarshini. An Indian fleet review is a ceremonial inspection of naval warships by the country's president, the supreme commander of the armed forces.
It was a great sight to behold. Rescue operations were displayed by warships, warfighter aircraft, helicopters, and water parachutes, among so many other spectacular events. The yacht passed through 44 ships anchored off Visakhapatnam. The review involved ships of the Indian Navy as well as the Coast Guard. This Fleet Review is unique as it marks the 75th anniversary of Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav.
